P0033 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit
Some Turbocharged / Supercharged systems can use a bypass valve (commonly called a dump valve) to relieve turbo boost pressure. The bypass valve will normally be vacuum operated with a solenoid controlling the vacuum to the valve.
Fault Code Explained
This fault code indicates that there is an undefined fault in the control circuit, this could be a signal that is outside of it’s normal operating parameters or a value that is not consistent with the current operating conditions.
- Check all vacuum hoses for blockages or leaks
- Check supply Voltage to control solenoid
- Check earth to control solenoid (this will normally be controlled by the ECM)
