The calculation assumes a four-stroke engine and uses manifold absolute pressure. Actual airflow varies with volumetric efficiency, valve timing, EGR, boost control and sensor tolerances.
Workshop note
Use absolute manifold pressure, not gauge boost pressure. EGR flow, variable valve timing and engine condition may cause a valid live reading to differ from the theoretical value.
